That wisdom, when applied to our business, really hits home...

I specifically remember several times in those first couple years that people or circumstances frustrated me so much it almost made me want to quit...
But I remember thinking, "This is a test, how do I want my future teammates to respond when they face this situation? I'm going to CHOOSE TO BE STRONG FOR THEM."
You see, if you quit or lose passion in your message, it means you let the flakes, skeptics, quitters, and complainers define YOUR future - THAT is a painful thought...
We wanted a team who:
- put in CONSISTENT part time effort
- ran the roads and communicated the message FACE TO FACE
- kept their WORD
- had THICK skin
- INVESTED in their business
- MADE Success School happen
- said no to some things now to have MANY things later
- were ALL in
- stayed TOUGH AND COMMITTED through challenging patches
SO WE CHOSE TO BE ALL THE ABOVE FIRST. BE. DO. HAVE.
Leadership in this company will repel the average person who thrives on instant pleasure... fortunately, the average person needs and loves our products...
Regarding Business Builders, we have to always remember that it only takes a few loyal warriors to get this thing off the ground... once it's off the ground you're rollin' and the next set of leaders is easier to attract...

Understanding How "Lag Time" Affects You
Distributors join AdvoCare mostly because they see it as a vehicle that can lead them from where they are to where they would rather be. Distributors quit AdvoCare because they tend to quickly become disillusioned by their lack of results.
Where are you today? Do you have business and activity momentum established to the extent that you're being swept up by a wave of positive activity, or are you sitting idle - wondering what's wrong and why your business isn't going the way you thought it would?
Lack of progress is almost always the result of a lack of sustained, consistent <i>activity</i>. But sometimes, you can be very active for what seems like a long period of time and still not get the kind of results that signify progress. That lack of results can grow on you, and undermine your self-confidence, especially when others seem to be making significant progress. When you see people who are brand new to AdvoCare winning bonuses and making major progress, you can get down on yourself, and when that happens you've created a "self-fulfilling prophecy." Most of your thoughts are becoming about "what you are not..." instead of what you can become and what you can do.
To help you through those times that everyone eventually experiences, you have to understand what "Lag Time" is all about.
You see, what you do in the way of activity today may very well not produce any results today. What you do this week or this month may not create results for you this week or this month. Results are not necessarily an indicator of your value and they are not necessarily an indicator of what is to come.
Suppose a farmer - whose cupboards and storehouse was empty - went into his field in the month of March or April to plant his seed. He needs food for his family and for himself right now, so he does what all farmers do - he plants. Now, suppose this farmer went out into the field a week or two later, got down on his knees and started digging into the soil to see how the roots were doing. You can imagine the result. Not only would he find little or nothing going on, but whatever could be going on down there in the soil is going to be disturbed.
Lag time is what it takes between the effort and the result, and you can't give up because you don't see any activity going on. What's more, you can't compare your "crops" to the farmer next to you. You simply have to believe in the promise that God gives - "You plant the seed and I will make the tree."
Time eventually turns effort into result. How much time? It's not given to you to know how much time is finally enough. Just keep sowing and just keep believing. Lag time will work its wonder for you just like it does for everyone who just keeps planting and believing.

$2100 Perspective
Here's a concept for those of you sharing the AdvoCare business opportunity with others...
$2100 Would be a bargain just to have the ability to start an Advocare business... EVEN IF IT DIDN'T GET YOU ANY PRODUCTS!
Products are a bonus...
Think about it...
Most franchises START at around 40K just to "buy the name" and start the process... (Curves: 30K, GNC: 40K, Smoothie King: 25K)
That franchise fee doesn't include:
- property lease
- signage
- employees
- product inventory
So essentially, the $79 Distributor fee IS the equivalent to the "franchise fee" in the above businesses... the fact that $2100 gets you product is kind of a bonus... it's seed that starts your business...
And no matter WHAT business or franchise you start, there is going to be a tremendous amount of sweat equity put in, especially in the beginning... AND THEN IT STARTS TO ROLL...
Are you willing to put in the effort that makes it "roll"?
That's the question you need to be asking people... not whether they can afford $2100... the $2100 is a no brainer, a bargain drop in the bucket in the grand picture of things...
Not to mention that the product purchased is refundable for up to 1 year...
UNFORTUNATE REALITY: OUR BUY-IN IS SO RELATIVELY LOW THAT MANY PEOPLE QUIT TOO EASILY AND EARLY, AND NEVER REALLY GO ALL OUT TO MAKE IT WORK - THEY DON'T PRESS FORWARD AS IF THEY HAD 100K ON THE LINE. IF THEY HAD 20K OR 100K INVESTED, THEY'D FIGHT MUCH HARDER...
Be STRONGER than that. We chose to stay strong because this business was the best shot at FREEDOM that our family had. And it's likely the best shot the people you're talking to have...
So it's the people who are taking the ABOVE MESSAGE to the market place who are winning big...
Make sure your head is on straight when talking Advisor to people... remind and condition yourself to the above concept until it becomes your own personal conviction...
